Choosing and adapting

Find a line that means something to you

Start with the question, not the quotation

What are you trying to remember: a decision, a person, or a change in direction? A line about attention suits a daily reminder; a line about endings suits a transition. If you need encouragement to complete a task, the motivational collection is more direct. Meaningful words can leave a question open rather than tell you what to do.

Give an abstract thought an anchor

Keep an attributed quotation intact and put your own explanation beneath it. With an original saying, you can rewrite the line itself. One concrete detail helps a reader understand why you chose it.
